Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation environment
- ability to stand for long periods of time
- ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- ability to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- ability to repeat the same movements
- ability to bend or twist the body
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- ability to learn and apply sanitation and food safety regulations
- ability to work quickly and efficiently

- basic understanding of or ability to learn sanitation and regulations for workplace safety
- basic understanding of or ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures

- must be able to work well under pressure
- ability to maintain personal cleanliness
- high school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics, such as food safety, preferred
- previous experience as a busboy, washer, waiter, cook, or relevant work experience
- one year of related experience preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare meals and snacks that are consistently tasteful, nutritious, and appealing to residents and guests
- maintain a sanitary, orderly, and safe kitchen and dining environment
- assist with menu planning, reviewing, and adjusting menus with Supervisor to accommodate foods in season, special events, and holidays
- alter or adapt meals to accommodate the special dietary needs of residents
- help with ordering, delivery, and inventory of food, supplies, and equipment, as directed
- ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of food for infection control
- notify Supervisor of malfunction of equipment or appliances
- recognize improvement opportunities
- prioritize, multi-task, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
- develop constructive relationships with co-workers, residents, and families
- stay in compliance with State and Federal food handling and safety regulations
- perform other duties as assigned
