Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years cooking experience
  • Age over 18 years
  • Background clearance per government regulations
  • Current food handler's permit
  • Negative tuberculosis test results
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Ability to operate computer and necessary software programs
  • Professionalism in workplace interactions
  • Ability to lift and push up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the day and community

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years cooking experience
  • Current food handler's permit
  • Excellent English communication skills including speaking, writing, and reading
  • Ability to operate computer and software programs such as word, email, and excel
  • Professional demeanor with team members, residents, family, and visitors

Job Duties

  • Arrive to work on time and prepared for shift
  • Prepare food items according to planned menus and recipes meeting nutritional and dietary requirements
  • Ensure all food is served at correct temperature
  • Maintain proper plate presentation
  • Consult Director of Dining Services on menu changes
  • Keep food storage areas clean and organized
  • Prepare food following sanitary and dietitian regulations
  • Receive and manage food orders in timely manner
  • Dispose of food waste according to policy
  • Properly store, label, and date leftovers
  • Record temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, and dishwashers
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas
  • Supervise servers and dishwashers as necessary
  • Prepare and stock upcoming menu items
  • Ensure safe storage and efficient use of kitchen inventory
  • Promote positive and friendly teamwork attitude
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
