Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test
  • Minimum of one year of experience in food preparation or cooking
  • Ability to work onsite during day shifts
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines strictly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test
  • Minimum of one year of experience in food preparation or cooking
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and safety protocols
  • Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment skills
  • Experience working in fast-paced food service environments
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Knowledge of food sanitation and storage regulations

Job Duties

  • Reviews menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared
  • Follows standardized recipes in preparation of all foods
  • Plans cooking schedule with supervisor and/or executive chef to ensure food will be ready at specified times
  • Confers with supervisor and/or executive chef regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers
  • Adheres to all applicable guidelines regarding the storage, handling and preparation of food as well as in the sanitation and maintenance of work area
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills and decisive judgment to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Takes appropriate actions to meet quality and safety standards
