Job Requirements

  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • understand oral and written instructions
  • perform simple arithmetic
  • high school diploma or equivalent experience required
  • two years of work experience required
  • vocational or on-the-job training in cooking preferred
  • five years experience in food production and cooking in demanding schedules preferred
  • experience in hospitals and multi-site facilities preferred
  • familiarity with inventory and ordering software preferred
  • maintain current Food Service Managers Certification with photo from the Metropolitan Health Department preferred

Job Duties

  • assist in preparing and cooking foods using quantity and batch cooking methods
  • comply with University Health and Department policies
  • ensure proper care and use of foods, supplies, and equipment
  • comply with safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations
  • maintain good guest and working relations
  • assure competent, efficient and timely performance of duties
  • meet established daily deadlines with accuracy and quality
