Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • one year of experience as a cook or dietary aide in an institutional food service setting preferred
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • capacity to stand for extended periods
  • good communication skills
  • ability to follow directions and work independently
  • commitment to food safety and hygiene standards

Job Duties

  • Follow standardized recipes
  • prepare foods that correspond to menu cycles developed by registered dietitians
  • cook or prepare appetizing, well-presented and nutritionally adequate meals in appropriate quantities and temperatures
  • use food supplies and equipment efficiently to prevent waste
  • prepare and maintain food alternatives to accommodate guest choices and refusals
  • supervise culinary staff regarding food storage, preparation, tray assembly and cleaning
  • supervise culinary center employees in the absence of the chef or dietary manager
