Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5-7 years of cooking experience preferred
- Ability to safely use cooking and cleaning equipment
- Ability to prepare variety of foods including special diets
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Ability to follow recipes and production schedules
- Ability to work onsite at 1575 Cambridge Street
- Physical ability to perform duties involving standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and fine and gross manipulation
- Willingness to work per diem day shifts
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5-7 years of cooking experience preferred
- Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards
- Ability to prepare and bake pastries, rolls, and other baked goods
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and inventory control
- Organizing and coordinating skills
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
- Ability to accept receipt of goods and supplies
Job Duties
- Receive food ingredients and supplies from main kitchen and pantry as required for daily operations
- Review production schedule to determine food requirements including variety and quantity for preparation and assemble supplies and equipment needed for cooking
- Prepare and display a wide variety of foods such as vegetables, fruits, meats, soups, salads, simple pastries, breads and cereals in accordance with prescribed recipes using a range of cooking methods
- Test foods being cooked for quality
- Complete production sheets and other records as required
- Maintain clean work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Cater special events as required
- Attend to day-to-day kitchen problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies
- Detect and ensure disposition of spoiled or defective food, supplies, or equipment
- Prepare special diets according to prescribed standards
- Record inventory and order stock as needed
