Job Description
Serenity Knolls is a premier residential treatment center located in the picturesque Forest Knolls, nestled within the San Geronimo Valley, just 10 minutes west of Fairfax. Established as a 42-bed co-ed facility, Serenity Knolls serves adults aged 18 and up, including 6 beds dedicated specifically for detoxification. This center is designed on a 12-step based, social model of residential treatment, uniquely combining traditional social care methods with contemporary cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and evidence-based practices. This innovative approach creates a supportive environment that nurtures recovery and well-being by addressing both the psychological and social aspects of addiction and mental health challenges.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Additional education or training in the culinary field preferred
- Two or more years of experience in food service role preparing food for institutions such as schools, hospitals, or cafeterias preferred
- ServSafe Certification or similar food safety certification required where applicable
- Willingness to work 5 to 6 hour shifts with 1 weekend day coverage per week
- Shift availability either Wednesday through Saturday or Thursday through Sunday with mid-day coverage needed
- Dependable, team-oriented, and flexible
- Experience cooking for large groups
Job Qualifications

- Two or more years’ experience in food service role in preparing food for institutions such as school, hospital or cafeteria preferred
- ServSafe Certification or similar food safety certification where required by the state or facility
Job Duties
- Cook and prepare food according to approved menus
- Direct activities of workers who assist in preparing and serving meals
- Clean and inspect equipment, kitchen appliances and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation
- Take inventory of supplies and equipment
- Work with Food Service leadership or Dietitian to ensure menus are varied, nutritionally balanced and appetizing
- Perform and coordinate food production, cleaning, maintenance, and inventory control activities
- Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures, quality standards, cost parameters, and appropriate regulatory requirements
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned
