Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS) is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to providing support and advocacy to individuals affected by domestic violence. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • minimum one year experience in kitchen work and food preparation
  • institutional experience preferred
  • computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • background in health and nutrition preferred
  • understanding of social justice issues related to domestic violence and equity
  • dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • adaptability to fast-paced environment
  • ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • valid Oklahoma driver’s license
  • Oklahoma Food Services Permit
  • current CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • willingness to support DVIS’s philosophies on diversity and inclusion
  • availability for part-time schedule with occasional extended workdays

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • minimum one year of kitchen work or food service experience
  • institutional food preparation experience preferred
  • computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite
  • knowledge of health and nutrition preferred
  • understanding of social justice issues including domestic and sexual violence

  • strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  • ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to fast-paced environments

  • diplomacy in discussing personal identities and workplace discrimination

Job Duties

  • reflect and understand workplace equity and inclusion dynamics
  • create an inclusive environment that respects and values clients and employees
  • prepare and serve nutritionally balanced meals and snacks
  • assist with menu development and weekly meal planning
  • use kitchen equipment safely and report malfunctions
  • coordinate resident involvement in clean-up
  • maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation
  • report unsanitary conditions and dispose of spoiled food
  • record daily meal counts and nutritional data
  • monitor food stock and expiration dates
  • pick up food donations and supplies
  • assist managing food budget and ordering approved items
  • supervise interns and volunteers
  • support overall departmental goals and organizational mission
