Job Requirements

  • Active SafeStaff certification within 30 days of hire
  • 1-3 years volume cooking experience in hospital, hotel, institutional, or catering setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen tools and equipment
  • Available to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Able to work in fast-paced environment and multi-task
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information such as HIPAA
  • Follow safety and sanitation protocols
  • Ability to interact positively with customers and coworkers
  • Physically able to perform cooking and cleaning duties

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in healthcare food service as a cook preferred
  • Proficiency in food safety practices and culinary techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete repetitive tasks
  • Friendly and outgoing with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to safely use and maintain kitchen equipment
  • Team-oriented with good collaboration skills
  • Quick learner familiar with menu and procedures
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including nights and weekends
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize tasks
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and guest information

Job Duties

  • Prepare, season, and cook foods according to recipe standards under supervision
  • Perform short-order cooking functions at retail cafeteria or patient tray line
  • Operate kitchen equipment to measure, mix, and prepare ingredients
  • Maintain food production sheets by weighing and documenting food items
  • Collaborate in sustainability efforts including food donation and composting
  • Clean and sanitize workstation and kitchen equipment daily
  • Greet customers professionally and provide excellent customer service
  • Follow safety and security policies to ensure workplace safety
  • Maintain calm demeanor during high volume periods
  • Implement food safety and sanitation protocols consistently
  • Set up and present food according to standardized recipes
  • Float and work in other food service areas as needed
  • Report customer complaints and operational issues to leadership
