Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must possess food handler license or be able to obtain within six months of employment
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in preparation of meals and food services in an institutional setting preferred and/or experience in large scale meal preparation
  • Training in food planning and preparation
  • Knowledge of preparing healthy meals for a numerous amount of people
  • Ability to follow directions, read and calculate varied menus and prepare food in a safe and healthy manner

Job Duties

  • Provide quality food service within the guidelines of the school nutrition program
  • Assist the Food Manager in the planning of daily meals
  • Serve meals to residents and staff of the facility breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Responsible for cooking and cleaning of daily meals for a population up to 100 children and staff as well as other duties as assigned
  • Hours will include some evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ensure that the kitchen meets state, local, and federal guidelines
  • Assist the Food Manager in preparing inventory of food stock and other supplies
  • Prepare and submit supply list as needed
