Job Requirements

  • high school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
  • minimum one year of cooking experience in restaurant, hotel or healthcare
  • ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English
  • write and follow oral/written instructions
  • simple math skills
  • willingness to cross-train within the Food Service Department

Job Qualifications

  • preferred associate degree or culinary degree
  • preferred over two years of previous cooking experience, preferably with therapeutic diets
  • preferred Serv-Safe certification
  • preferred bilingual
  • preferred strong catering and computer skills

Job Duties

  • prepare food for patients, catering and cafeteria using standardized recipes, production sheets and catering request forms
  • ensure food is prepared in a timely manner to meet the meal service deadlines
  • ensure food is prepared to meet the standards of color, texture, appearance, temperature, and that it is attractively served and garnished
  • ensure food is handled using appropriate safety and sanitation standards
  • may be responsible for delivering and/or serving of food
