Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • minimum of two (2) years prior experience in commercial or institutional cooking required
  • background check clearance required
  • enrollment in state Food Safety Manager License class upon hire required with certification obtained within 90 days
  • Food Sanitation Certificate or ability to obtain required
  • State Food Handlers permit required within one (1) week of hire
  • experience interacting with clients and staff required
  • ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision required
  • experience operating kitchen equipment safely required
  • ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing required

Job Duties

  • Following menu plans, prepare a variety of high-quality food in specified quantities using standardized recipes
  • keep assigned work area clean and follow all sanitation guidelines
  • perform all duties following safety guidelines and requirements in accordance with regulatory, licensing, accreditation, and agency standards
  • maintain cleanliness standards in the cooler, freezer, and overall kitchen areas
  • maintain inventory of food, equipment, and supplies in the kitchen area
  • receive, restock, and organize inventory
  • demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity, treating clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations and/or individuals in a dignified, respectful, honest, and fair manner
