Job Requirements
- High school diploma or high school equivalency (HSE)
- Minimum one to three year's prior food service experience
- Successful completion of Department of Public Health Food Safety Manager test within two months of hire
- Possession of Food Handler Card within two months of hire
- Ability to proficiently use kitchen equipment or attain within three months
- Ability to lift, move, and adjust up to 50 lbs
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Valid driver's license and minimum state auto insurance
- Pass DOJ background clearance (fingerprinting) prior to start
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school equivalency (HSE)
- Minimum of one to three year's prior food service experience
- Experience in a scale commercial setting preferred
- Associate's degree in food and beverage preparation preferred
- Successful completion of the Department of Public Health Food Safety Manager test within two months of hire
- Possession of Food Handler Card within two months of hire
- Proficient use of a variety of kitchen equipment, including broilers, grills, slicers, grinders, and blender or attain proficiency within three months
- Prior experience or interest in service delivery with the homeless population
- Sensitivity to issues surrounding homelessness, substance abuse, mental illness, and/or physical handicaps
- Ability to lift, move, and adjust objects up to 50 lbs
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a cooperative, friendly, proactive, and helpful attitude
- Passion and enthusiasm for the mission of Catholic Charities and its clients
- Possess valid driver's license and at least state required minimum auto insurance
- Must pass DOJ background clearance (fingerprinting) prior to employment
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Plan, prepare, and serve meals for shelter residents and participants of other programs as assigned
- Ensure all food preparation areas are clean
- maintain sanitary standards
- maintain all cleanliness of storage areas
- complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule
- Maintain system to assure that food items in freezers and refrigerators are covered and labeled appropriately
- Support the setup, take down, and cleanup of the dining area and food delivery area
- Support the Lead Cook in the supervision of staff members and volunteers who assist with food preparation, serving, and clean up to ensure safety protocols are followed
- Support the management of all incoming food donations and food orders
- Support the maintenance of all criteria associated with CACFP grant funding, including menu creation, weekly meal counts, recordkeeping, and annual audit process
- Perform job functions in line with Catholic Charities' policies and procedures

- Participate in training to ensure best practice standards
- Support quality improvement efforts
