Job Requirements
- Previous food service experience in a K-12 school setting preferred
- Ability to work part-time schedules including mornings and early afternoons
- Capable of standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks associated with food preparation
- Basic understanding of food safety standards
- Willingness to comply with all company policies and safety procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors
- Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must adhere to safe use of kitchen tools and equipment
- Must maintain a drug-free workplace
Job Qualifications
- Previous food service experience in a K-12 school setting preferred
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and maintain quality food production
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards including HACCP
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen
- Willingness to learn and undergo training
- Basic math skills for portion control and record keeping
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
Job Duties
- Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
- Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
- Uses established ticket collection procedures during service and is responsible for records from the area worked
- Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Stores or discards excess food following safe food-handling procedures
- Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat, ensuring food and supplies are stored per standards
- Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
- Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required
- Assists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as needed
- Reports maintenance issues, faulty equipment or accidents immediately
- Attends in-service and safety meetings
- Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
- Performs job safely maintaining a clean, safe work environment
- Ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures following HACCP standards
- Commits personally to safety for self and others
- Abides by all company policies and safety procedures including the use of gloves, mitts, and slip-resistant shoes while handling equipment and hot items
- Performs other duties as assigned
