Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of relevant cooking experience or equivalent
  • Ability to handle physical demands of the job
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Must comply with pre-employment medical examination and substance abuse screening
  • Willingness to undergo background investigation
  • Ability to understand and apply recipes and preparation procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school with courses in cooking
  • At least one year of experience cooking a variety of foods in moderately large quantities or equivalent
  • Considerable knowledge of foods and effective preparation techniques
  • Working knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and quality retention
  • Understanding of therapeutic diets and nutrition
  • Ability to operate food preparation equipment safely
  • Familiarity with Health Care Code Regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Perform food preparation and baking according to local, state, and federal guidelines
  • Supervise Cook I and Food Service Workers
  • Ensure quality food production meets long-term healthcare facility objectives
  • Adhere to food handling, sanitation, and safety standards
  • Operate and maintain food preparation equipment safely
  • Follow therapeutic diets and nutritional guidelines
  • Work cooperatively with staff, residents, and the public
