Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two to three years of commercial food preparation experience
- Experience in assisted living or skilled nursing setting
- Knowledge of basic nutrition and cooking methods
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- Certification in food handling and sanitation as required by local or state authorities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect resident privacy
- Willingness to adhere to company policies and resident rights
Job Qualifications
- Two to three years of commercial food preparation experience
- Experience in assisted living or skilled nursing settings
- Knowledge of restrictive diets
- Working knowledge of basic nutrition, cooking techniques, portion control, and serving
- Ability to operate common kitchen equipment
- Ability to cook large quantities of food with appropriate seasoning and timing
- Capability to follow standard recipes and prepare multi-course meals independently
Job Duties
- Prepare attractive, nutritious, and appetizing meals according to registered Dietician menus and standards
- Demonstrate initiative and judgement in meal setup, seasoning, food estimation, leftover utilization, and presentation
- Plan and execute cooking schedules to meet established meal service times
- Prepare, portion, garnish, and serve meals following standard recipes and portion control procedures
- Manage inventory of food supplies to ensure adequate stock and minimize waste
- Maintain confidentiality of resident personal and health information
- Adhere to resident bill of rights and company policies regarding privacy and food preparation
- Operate kitchen equipment such as mixer, meat slicer, oven, grill, deep fryer, stove, steamer, chopper, dishwasher, and microwave
