Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to obtain Public Health Food Service Licensure and Food sanitation certification
- Strong knowledge of cooking and food preparation
- Physical ability to perform medium work and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to comply with a drug-free workplace policy
- Willingness to work on-site as no remote work is allowed
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to work early morning shifts from 6am to 2pm on assigned days
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment such as masks
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to fumes, odors, dust, and potential infections
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of English language including spelling, grammar, and composition
- Understanding of food production techniques and equipment
- Basic mathematics skills including arithmetic and statistics
- Ability to obtain food sanitization certification
- Knowledge of public safety and security policies related to food service
- Preferred experience in the food service field
- Ability to understand and follow recipes
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to maintain food safety and sanitation standards
Job Duties
- Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock
- Ensure food is stored and cooked at the correct temperature by regulating the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters
- Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas, to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
- Measure portions, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment
- Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption
- Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
- Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils
- Maintain food, beverage, or equipment inventories
- Clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment
