Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • at least 18 years of age
  • at least one year of relevant cooking experience
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • prior cooking or kitchen experience in a cafeteria or large volume production facility preferred
  • knowledge of safety procedures in food service
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • physical ability to perform kitchen tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing

  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • prior experience cooking or kitchen experience in a cafeteria or large volume production facility a plus
  • experience with safety procedures as typical in a cafeteria or food service environment

Job Duties

  • Refers to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties and completes opening and closing checklists daily
  • sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • safely uses a variety of kitchen utensils including knives and other items
  • must be comfortable using and operating a variety of equipment including ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc
  • knows and complies consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, recipes, policies, and procedures
  • handles, stores, labels, and rotates all products properly and in accordance with applicable state laws
  • follow assigned instructions to properly stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure smooth serving of food
  • clear understanding of menu items
  • understand and responsible for prepping ingredients
  • strong grasp on various cooking methods, food items, equipment, etc
  • be able to multitask in a high-volume kitchen
  • be able to handle hot and cold work conditions during food preparation
  • perform other related duties as assigned
