Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 2 years cooking experience in hospital, long-term care community, restaurant, or similar food service
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public
  • Leadership ability and willingness to supervise personnel
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to seek out new methods and incorporate them
  • Knowledge of dietary procedures and food service regulations
  • Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
  • Ability to maintain care and use of supplies, equipment, and work area
  • Attend continuing education programs
  • Adhere to community dress code policy

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 2 years cooking experience in hospital, long-term care community, restaurant, or similar food service
  • Or graduate of accredited dietetic training approved by American Dietetic Association
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Leadership ability
  • Ability to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel
  • Knowledge of dietary procedures and related laws and regulations
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
  • Willingness to seek out and incorporate new methods into practices

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with established federal, state, and local standards
  • Assure quality food service is provided at all times
  • Cook a variety of foods in large quantities
  • Maintain the care and use of supplies and equipment
  • Inspect service areas for sanitization, order, and safety
  • Follow written and oral instructions
  • Participate in continuing education programs
