Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience in institutional cooking preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience in food service or cooking preferred
  • Food Handler Certification - ServSafe required for Illinois employees
  • Food Handler Certification - ServSafe preferred for Indiana employees
  • Ability to work full-time hours including weekends and holiday rotations
  • Commitment to following food safety and sanitation guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • Preferred high school diploma/GED
  • 2 years institutional cooking preferred
  • 1 year food service and/or cooking preferred
  • Food Handler Certification - ServSafe required in Illinois
  • Food Handler Certification - ServSafe preferred in Indiana

Job Duties

  • Label and date food products according to established procedures
  • Manage supplies and resources to minimize waste
  • Meet schedules and time requirements for food preparation
  • Practice safe food handling techniques
  • Prepare and cook/bake food according to standardized recipes
  • Ensure food products meet quality standards for taste and appearance
  • Ensure proper usage of kitchen equipment including combo-ovens, slicers, steamers, and mixers
  • Follow production sheets to ensure correct quantities are made and available to all service areas
  • Follow sanitation guidelines of federal, state, and HFAP regulatory agencies
  • Work full-time hours from 12 pm to 8:30 pm with weekends and holidays rotation
