Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in food preparation or cooking
  • knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards
  • ability to follow detailed recipes and portion controls
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to promote a safe and ethical work environment
  • willingness to work flexible hours and multiple venues
  • physical ability to stand for long periods and handle kitchen equipment safely

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior cooking experience in a similar setting preferred
  • knowledge of nutrition and food safety standards
  • ability to follow recipes and prepare meals in large quantities
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • familiarity with dietary requirements and therapeutic diets
  • strong organizational and time management skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare bulk food items for various venues while following recipes to ensure nutrition, appearance, and proper portions
  • report problems and take corrective action
  • provide resident-centered care
  • maintain and promote ethical conduct among employees
  • manage schedule, food supply, and food production duties in absence of dietary managers
  • prepare food for catering events and off-premises services
  • promote a safe working environment
  • read and interpret residents nutritional requirements
  • support clinical nutrition through dietitian management of therapeutic diets
  • educate residents on cost and content of selections and offer alternatives
  • ensure health guidelines and sanitation policies are followed
  • maintain documentation and logs for sanitation and food safety
  • assist dietary manager with departmental auditing for annual survey
