Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Two years of experience in food production
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience with institutional kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of nutritional principles in diet preparation
  • CPR, CPI and First Aid certification on or within 60 days of employment
  • Successful completion of post-offer physical examination
  • Successful 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis
  • Acceptable criminal background clearances
  • Compliance with excluded party sanctions
  • Verification of degree or license
  • Willingness to work with disabled adults

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in food production and knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • High school graduation or GED equivalent
  • Experience in the use of institutional kitchen equipment such as steam tables, stoves, refrigerators and freezers
  • Knowledge of nutritional principles for regular and therapeutic diets
  • CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified or ability to obtain certification within 60 days
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Willingness to work with disabled adults

Job Duties

  • Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with internal and external stakeholders
  • Performs tasks correctly and according to policies and procedures
  • Creates menus and orders necessary food supplies to accommodate a variety of dietary requests
  • Participates in and supervises food preparation activities including washing, trimming, cooking and seasoning
  • Prepares food for special therapeutic diets
  • Receives and monitors food deliveries against requisitions and invoices
  • Takes active steps to avoid food waste
  • Responsible for the efficient running of the dietary program
  • Ensures that cleaning and maintenance programs are consistently adhered to
  • Collaborates with the Nursing Department regarding regular and modified diet preparation
  • Demonstrates knowledge of CPI principles and manages aggressive behavior using CPI concepts
  • Plans and facilitates cooking schedules to ensure food is ready on time
  • Monitors food storage, refrigeration and related equipment to maintain sanitary conditions
