Job Requirements

  • High school graduation or G.E.D. equivalent
  • minimum two years food production experience
  • knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • experience in healthcare preferred
  • ability to use institutional kitchen equipment
  • English proficiency
  • willingness to work with disabled adults
  • fingerprint clearance through Criminal Justice Department
  • ability to lift up to 100 pounds
  • ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, crawl and twist regularly
  • participation in assault response training
  • maintain professional appearance and punctual attendance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • two years of experience in food production
  • knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • experience in healthcare setting preferred
  • proficiency with institutional kitchen equipment including steam tables, stoves, refrigerators and freezers
  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • willingness to work with disabled adults
  • must be fingerprinted and cleared through Criminal Justice Department

Job Duties

  • Prepare, cook and serve meals including meat, fish, vegetables, soups, salads and desserts
  • season and cook food according to therapeutic diet requirements
  • review menus, work orders and recipes to determine meal type and quantity
  • supervise food preparation activities such as washing, trimming, cooking and seasoning
  • manage food storage, housekeeping, safety standards and equipment maintenance
  • receive and monitor food deliveries against requisitions and invoices
  • prevent food waste and ensure sanitary conditions
  • collaborate and communicate with the Dietary Supervisor
  • apply Professional Assault Response Training (PART) concepts to manage aggressive behavior
  • plan and facilitate cooking schedules
  • participate as an active team member providing observations and feedback
