Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum two years of food production experience
  • Experience with therapeutic diet preparation
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as steam tables, stoves, refrigerators and freezers
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Willingness to work with disabled adults
  • Fingerprinting and clearance from Criminal Justice Department
  • Capacity to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 100 pounds
  • Availability for variable shifts and on-call hours
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in food production
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Proficient in use of institutional kitchen equipment
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Willingness to work with disabled adults
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards
  • Understanding of Professional Assault Response Training (PART)

Job Duties

  • Prepares, cooks and serves food to clients
  • Seasons and cooks meat, fish, vegetables, soups, salads and desserts
  • Reviews menus, work orders and recipes to determine meal preparation needs
  • Participates in food preparation activities such as washing, trimming, cooking and seasoning
  • Directs collection and assembly of food items from storage areas
  • Prepares food for special therapeutic diets
  • Receives and monitors food deliveries
  • Implements food waste reduction strategies
  • Supervises dietary staff in absence of supervisor
  • Ensures cleaning and maintenance programs are followed
  • Collaborates with dietary supervisor regarding diet preparation
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Professional Assault Response Training
  • Plans and facilitates cooking schedules
  • Maintains cooperative relationships with team members
  • Monitors sanitary conditions of food storage and equipment
  • Practices universal precautions
  • Represents Telecare professionally in the community
