Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years recent cooking experience
- Serve Safe Certification
- knowledge of safe food handling practices
- ability to maintain cleanliness in kitchen areas
- ability to follow recipes and dietary restrictions
- strong communication skills
- must pass pre-employment testing including criminal background check, drug test, TB screening, and health screening
- willingness to sign arbitration agreement as a condition of employment
Job Qualifications

- 1-2 years recent experience as a cook
- Serve Safe Certification
- knowledge of safe food handling and preparation
- ability to present foods attractively and to test quality by taste and smell
- broad knowledge of breakfast, lunch and dinner entree preparation
- broad knowledge of scratch soups, sauces, gravies, starches and vegetables
Job Duties
- Apply sanitation and safety techniques while working
- be responsible for all kitchen activities in the absence of the Food and Nutrition Manager or Lead Cook
- prepare and cook meals according to menus and recipes adhering to all diets
- measure and mix food ingredients according to recipes and menus
- practice and apply portion control during preparation and service of all diets
- perform cleaning and maintenance of kitchen community and equipment according to schedules and procedures while maintaining logs
- communicate changes or substitutions on daily menus to supervisor
- ensure proper labeling, dating, and rotation of foods in all storage areas
- work in accordance with safety guidelines established by the community with emphasis on proper body mechanics and safe work practices
- be familiar with the food service disaster plan
