Job Requirements

  • one (1) year of food service experience
  • two years experience as a cook in an institutional kitchen/food service within the last seven years or satisfactory completion of an institutional food preparation training program accepted in lieu of experience

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • cooking experience preferred
  • combination of education and experience preferred
  • proven experience in high-volume food preparation
  • strong understanding of food safety and therapeutic diets
  • commitment to culinary excellence in a fast-paced setting

Job Duties

  • follows established guidelines for safe food handling
  • follows menus/production guides and consults manager/supervisor regarding changes
  • follows standardized recipes and consults manager/supervisor regarding changes
  • stores food utilizing food safety guidelines including appropriate labeling/dating
  • follows guidelines for service of food for patients/staff and/or visitors
  • anticipates production needs to avoid shortages and controls production to avoid waste
  • follows portioning guidelines and just in time cooking without preparing items in advance
