Job Requirements
- one (1) year of food service experience
- two years experience as a cook in an institutional kitchen/food service within the last seven years or satisfactory completion of an institutional food preparation training program accepted in lieu of experience
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED preferred
- cooking experience preferred
- combination of education and experience preferred
- proven experience in high-volume food preparation
- strong understanding of food safety and therapeutic diets
- commitment to culinary excellence in a fast-paced setting
Job Duties
- follows established guidelines for safe food handling
- follows menus/production guides and consults manager/supervisor regarding changes
- follows standardized recipes and consults manager/supervisor regarding changes
- stores food utilizing food safety guidelines including appropriate labeling/dating
- follows guidelines for service of food for patients/staff and/or visitors
- anticipates production needs to avoid shortages and controls production to avoid waste
- follows portioning guidelines and just in time cooking without preparing items in advance
