Job Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain TIER-1 Childcare (CNACI) background checks
  • must pass pre-employment and annual physicals including immunization requirements
  • must complete all DoD training including orientation and annual training
  • must maintain 4 Hour Food Handler certification
  • must maintain CPR and First Aid certifications
  • may be required to obtain government driver’s license and purchase card
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • willingness to adhere to safety and sanitation policies
  • must be able to lift up to 45 lbs independently and with assistance for heavier items
  • must be committed to upholding equal employment opportunity and drug-free workplace policies
  • must be able to work in warm, noisy kitchen environments exposed to hazards

Job Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of food preparation methods and procedures
  • ability to follow written food service materials and recipes
  • basic arithmetic skills for multiplying ingredients and calculating servings
  • knowledge of food characteristics such as color, flavor, texture, and cooking times
  • skill in planning and timing food preparation
  • knowledge of sanitation principles
  • ability to stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend
  • ability to lift and carry objects up to 45 pounds independently
  • ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
  • strong interpersonal communication skills
  • ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and Food Handler certifications
  • ability to complete required Department of Defense training
  • knowledge of safety regulations and practices

Job Duties

  • Perform simple cooking tasks such as preparing pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and vegetables
  • prepare hot cereals, broil meats, cook soups, sauces, and gravies
  • prepare convenience items and bake pizza
  • assist in food preparation like peeling, cutting, washing vegetables and fruits
  • weigh, measure, and dispense foods according to portion controls
  • stock and transport food service carts to classrooms or activity areas
  • clean pots, pans, dishes, and kitchen equipment
  • perform heavy-duty cleaning tasks in food service areas
  • store food items properly and maintain food inventories
  • comply with security, fire, sanitation rules, and USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program standards
  • provide world class customer service and resolve problems promptly
  • report workplace hazards and injuries
  • support equal employment opportunity and prevention of sexual harassment
  • maintain personal hygiene and sanitation
  • perform other assigned duties
