Job Requirements
- must be 18 years of age or older to comply with FLSA requirements
- knowledge and abilities in institutional food production normally acquired with one or more years of work experience
- ability to learn and follow established policies and procedures
- ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions
- ability to communicate effectively
- ability to perform simple math calculations
- ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
- good interpersonal skills
- ability to perform tasks within limited time frames
- ability to follow production and cleaning schedules
- safe use of chemicals
- ability to read thermometers and follow safety requirements
- for some positions Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required
- for Banner Staffing Services team members food handler's card required within 30 days of hire
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge
- one or more years of experience in production cooking
- ability to learn and follow established policies and procedures
- effective communication skills
- ability to perform simple math calculations
- knowledge of food handling regulations and ability to pass certification tests
- good interpersonal skills
- ability to perform tasks within limited timeframes
- ability to follow production and cleaning schedules

Job Duties
- prepares and cooks hot and cold food items using standardized recipes and calculates production quantities based on production forecast and catering orders
- works in the retail cafe grill area and cooks breakfast items when assigned
- records over production and run outs and calculates production quantities
- checks and logs food and equipment temperatures and reports any problems to the supervisor
- maintains par levels of food and supplies, orders and restocks items, rotates food stocks and checks freshness dates
- keeps assigned work areas clean and orderly
- assists other kitchen and dietary staff as needed and may oversee shift efficiency
