Job Requirements

  • Possession of valid California operator's license
  • Two years of increasingly responsible experience in quantity food preparation and service
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience as cafeteria assistant preferred
  • Serve Safe Certification
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry 25-50 lbs
  • Ability to bend kneel squat and stoop occasionally
  • Ability to handle hot materials
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to read write and speak English

Job Duties

  • Plan organize and supervise school cafeteria operations including fast-food service line
  • Supervise and cook or prepare main dishes salads sandwiches desserts and baked goods following established menus
  • Supervise and assist in meal service to students and faculty
  • Maintain sanitation and efficiency standards in food preparation
  • Assist in menu planning and estimate food quantity needs
  • Order receive and check food and supplies
  • Maintain proper storage and take inventory of food stock
  • Supervise and perform cleaning of kitchen kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Outline daily duties and work schedule for staff
  • Provide orientation for new staff
  • Arrange maintenance of kitchen equipment
  • Prepare reports of meals served count receipts and make bank deposits
  • Issue and account for student lunch tickets
  • Maintain various records
  • Supervise student assistants
  • Use computer and attend district meetings and workshops
