Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years of experience in institutional food service or related field
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds
- Ability to tolerate temperature variations between 0 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- Food Protection Certification
- Ability to follow directions in English
- Competency in basic arithmetic
- Proficient computer skills
- Strong organizational abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years' experience in institutional food service or closely related field
- Comprehensive knowledge of institutional food preparation procedures, practices, operations, and equipment
- Ability to organize, supervise, train, and evaluate staff
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to follow written and oral directions in English
- General knowledge of safe food handling principles and personal hygiene
- Knowledge of safe and efficient use of food service equipment
- Proficiency in basic computations including weights and measures
- Competency in using calculators and computers
- Ability to interact effectively and courteously with students, staff, and school personnel
Job Duties
- Supervises and coordinates food preparation according to menu and program requirements
- Supervises and directs staff, food production, facilities cleaning, meal service, and related duties
- Assists in preparation, service, and cleanup of student meals, adult meals, and a la carte items as needed
- Opens and closes the kitchen
- Forecasts food and supply needs, prepares and submits monthly, weekly, and daily orders to Food Service Office
- Maintains inventory using proper storage principles and submits month-end inventory reports
- Ensures sanitary and health standards for food receiving, storage, preparation, and serving
- Trains, instructs, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff in food preparation, safety, sanitation, and hygiene
- Plans and directs daily staff work schedules and task rotations
- Controls food quality and quantity prepared and served
- Prepares accurate food production records and submits them timely
- Manages bank deposit and cash reconciliation
- Maintains good public relations with students, parents, faculty, and staff
- Performs other related duties as assigned
