Job Requirements
- Associates degree or high school diploma or GED and two years of related full-time experience
- Knowledge of food preparation and nutrition
- Ability to supervise staff and maintain records
- Good communication skills
- Physical ability to perform job duties
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Must comply with civil service residency requirements unless exempt as a Native American
Job Qualifications
- Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Food Service Administration, Dietetic Technology, Nutrition Restaurant Management or a related food service field
- Or graduation from high school, GED or equivalency diploma and two years of full-time experience in an industrial or school cafeteria, hospitals, restaurants, hotels or other similar operations involving large quantity food service
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience as defined within limits of the above
- Knowledge of approved methods of food preparation
- Working knowledge of nutritional values of foods
- Working knowledge of large scale food ordering and storage
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of others
- Ability to maintain simple records and prepare reports
- Ability to get along well with children and adults
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Courtesy and tact
Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks food and manages a school food service program at their respective schools
- Plans menus to meet pupil nutritive requirements
- Requisitions foods and supplies
- Oversees the preparation and serving of food
- Directs the storage and care of foods and supplies
- Supervises the cleaning of the kitchen, serving, storage and dining areas and the care of equipment
- Plans the work schedules of employees
- Assists in the selection and arrangement of kitchen equipment
- Maintains employee time records
- Maintains simple records of food and supplies received and used
- Prepares and submits reports on activities of the cafeteria
- Performs related work as required
