Job Description

This position is a Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) role assigned to the Child Development Center at Patrick Space Force Base (SFB). Patrick SFB is a critical installation of the United States Space Force, providing an operational environment for the United States' space-related military activities. The Child Development Center within this base offers care and developmental services to children of military families, supporting the wellbeing and growth of children while assisting military personnel with their family care needs.

Job Requirements

  • Current NAF employee
  • must provide proof of eligibility
  • ability to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally over 40 pounds
  • ability to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods
  • experience in food preparation in a restaurant, club, cafeteria or similar establishment
  • no education substitution allowed for experience
  • must meet all deadlines for application submission

Job Qualifications

  • Experience leading a team in food preparation
  • thorough knowledge of food characteristics and preparation
  • ability to plan and coordinate meal preparation
  • skill in recipe adjustment and seasoning
  • ability to judge food quality effectively
  • experience gained in restaurant or similar food service establishment
  • physical ability to perform heavy lifting and prolonged standing

Job Duties

  • Lead three or more workers to accomplish cooking assignments
  • plan, coordinate and time sequence steps needed to prepare entire meals on time
  • adjust recipes for servings, substitutions and seasoning
  • recognize characteristics of foods to decide freshness
  • judge prepared food by color, consistency, temperature, odor and taste
  • frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push and bend
