Job Description

The Joint Base Charleston Star Lifter Bowling Center is a dynamic recreation facility that provides a variety of activities and services designed to enhance the morale and well-being of military personnel, their families, and authorized patrons. It is part of the broader network of non-appropriated fund (NAF) activities that support quality of life programs on military installations. Job Requirements

  • Open to all applicants
  • Must provide proof of eligibility by closing date
  • Experience in grill, snack bar or similar food activity
  • Ability to lift objects up to 40 pounds frequently
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for long periods
  • Must complete food handler training
  • Must complete pre-employment physical
  • Must pass Tier I Investigation
  • Ability to become ServSafe certified
  • Ability to become ServSafe Instructor certified
  • Some education may substitute experience
  • Proof of equivalency for foreign education required if applicable

Job Qualifications

  • Experience leading three or more workers in cooking assignments
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods and presentation
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely
  • Knowledge of food service equipment and food characteristics
  • Ability to season food and determine doneness
  • Skill in yield testing and recipe adjustments
  • Knowledge of ordering, issuing, and storing food
  • Ability to obtain Food Handler's Certificate
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment physical
  • Ability to pass a Tier I Investigation
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe and ServSafe Instructor certifications

Job Duties

  • Lead cooking team to accomplish assignments
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Work safely in food preparation
  • Perform simple arithmetic for recipe adjustments
  • Operate and clean food service equipment
  • Conduct yield testing to determine portion costs
  • Order, issue, and store food properly
