Job Requirements
- Completion of background investigation with favorable results
- Favorable completion of Food Handlers Certificate
- Completion of favorable pre-employment physical including physical lifting requirements
- Availability to work variable schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to frequently lift objects up to 40 pounds and occasionally over 40 pounds
- Continual standing, walking and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing and bending
- U.S. citizenship or non-U.S. national residency for three or more consecutive years
- Registration for Selective Service for males born after December 31, 1959
- Ability to provide REAL ID or authorized source identity documents for installation access
- Completion of employment verification E-Verify check
- Compliance with union membership and bargaining unit regulations
- Willingness to work in a Non-appropriated Fund position supporting MWR activities for the Air Force and Space Force
Job Qualifications
- Ability to lead three or more workers to accomplish cooking assignments
- Experience in and knowledge of food preparation principles and characteristics of food
- Knowledge of planning processes to ensure entire meals are prepared and cooked on time
- Ability to perform yield testing to determine portion cost and adjust ingredients in standardized recipes
- Knowledge of procedures to order, issue and store food
- Experience in grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity
- Open to all applicants including military spouse preference, veteran status and other hiring preferences
Job Duties
- Provide day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments
- Relay instructions from the supervisor for work assignments
- Get work started and set work pace
- Demonstrate work methods and provide work-related guidance
- Ensure worksite materials and tools are available
- Ensure employees follow security, safety and housekeeping rules
- Roast, broil, bake, fry, boil, steam and stew meats, fish and poultry
- Prepare soups, stocks, broths, gravies, sauces and puddings without packaged mixes
- Adjust standardized recipes for number of servings and perform yield testing
- Prepare cold food platters including ham, salmon, roast beef, salads and hors d'oeuvres
- Mix and prepare cold sauces, meat glazes, molded aspics and salad dressings
- Carve vegetables and fruits as garnishes for food platters and dishes
- Prepare entire meals coordinating cooking of several food items with different cooking times
- Plan cooking process to serve meals on time and at the proper temperature
- Perform other related duties as assigned
