The Child Development Center at Patrick Space Force Base (SFB) is a vital non-appropriated fund (NAF) establishment dedicated to providing exceptional care and development programs for children. Job Requirements

  • completion of background investigation with favorable results
  • ability to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical
  • ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe Manager certification
  • current NAF employee status
  • ability to provide REAL ID or authorized source identity documents for installation access
  • male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
  • satisfactorily complete employment verification (E-Verify)
  • willingness to work full-time 35 hours per week
  • commitment to union membership under AFGE Local 2568
  • compliance with federal employment and fitness standards

Job Qualifications

  • ability to lead three or more workers to accomplish cooking assignments
  • thorough knowledge of food preparation and characteristics of foods
  • ability to plan, coordinate and time sequence steps needed to prepare entire meals on time without overcooking or waste
  • ability to adjust recipes for servings required, substitutions and seasoning
  • ability to recognize characteristics of foods in deciding that raw materials are fresh
  • ability to judge prepared food by color, consistency, temperature, odor and taste
  • experience in a restaurant, club, cafeteria or similar establishment
  • physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally over 40 pounds
  • able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time

Job Duties

  • provides day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments
  • relays instructions from the supervisor for work assignments
  • gets the work started and sets the work pace
  • demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance
  • ensures that the worksite materials and tools are available
  • ensures that employees follow security, safety and housekeeping rules
  • prepares a variety of menu items using quantity cooking procedures
  • plans and coordinates steps to ensure timely meal preparation
  • performs other related duties as assigned
