Job Requirements

  • Previous experience as a cook in a health care setting required
  • ServSafe Food Handler Certification required
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepares hot food menu items for cafeteria, catering and patient meals
  • All foods prepared according to standardized recipes
  • Follows recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, slicing and serving meats, vegetables and other foodstuff
  • Operates kitchen equipment for measuring and mixing ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding
  • Follows Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines to identify potential food hazards
  • Applies correct cooking methods and techniques
  • Tastes product, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production and keeps records to plan production
  • Sets up food on serving line on time and in proper quantities
  • Completes closing list job duties timely
  • Complies with health department codes and sanitation rules
  • Maintains standards of cleanliness, personal hygiene, and food handling
  • Maintains equipment and work area sanitation according to procedures and standards
