Job Requirements
- possession of ServSafe Food Manager certification or Food Protection Manager Certification must obtain certification within six months if not possessed at hire
- two or more years of cooking experience in institutional or restaurant settings
- valid Class C California driver's license
- ability to pass background investigation suitable to work in a locked facility
- felony and misdemeanor convictions may disqualify candidates depending on severity and recency
- ability to work under strict safety and security protocols
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- possession of ServSafe Food Manager certification or Food Protection Manager Certification
- two or more years of experience as a Cook in the institutional or restaurant industry
- ability to read and follow standardized recipes
- ability to work as part of a team in a large scale fast paced kitchen environment
- possession of valid Class C California driver's license
- experience driving a delivery truck preferred
Job Duties
- prepare and serve a variety of dishes in large quantities
- check portioning and garnishing of food and ensure it is served correctly
- operate and clean a variety of industrial food service equipment
- calculate ingredients needed
- receive and store food
- train new cooks
- mentor students and/or interns
- supervise the work of and work alongside incarcerated persons
- assist with menu planning and recipe development
- keep all areas clean within the food services operations
