Job Requirements
- 1-3 years experience as a cook at a quality style hotel or restaurant
- Food handling certificate
- High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
- Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize and organize
- Ability to follow directions thoroughly
- Ability to understand guest’s service needs
- Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and hotel data
- Ability to input and access information in property management system, computers and point of sales system
- Ability to exert physical effort including transporting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to endure various physical movements and remain stationary for 4 to 6 hours throughout shifts
Job Qualifications
- 1-3 years experience as a cook at a quality style hotel or restaurant
- Food handling certificate
- High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
- Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship
- Ability to compute basic arithmetic
- Ability to comprehend and follow recipes
- Ability to prioritize and organize
- Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal
- Previous guest relations training
- Experience working with all products and ingredients involved
- Artistic talent
- Ability to communicate satisfactorily with guests, management and co-workers
Job Duties
- Plan, prep, set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in the designated outlets
- Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests
- Resolve guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction
- Meet with Chef/Sous Chef to review assignments and anticipated business levels
- Complete opening duties including setting up workstation and inspecting equipment
- Prepare and produce dessert menu items following recipes and yield guides
- Produce centerpieces for banquets and buffets
- Maintain proper storage procedures as specified by health and hotel requirements
- Minimize waste and maintain controls to attain forecasted food cost
- Disinfect and sanitize cutting boards and worktables
- Break down work station and complete closing duties including returning food items to proper storage, cleaning prep areas and restocking items
- Assist with inventories as scheduled and in plating up banquets
- Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule
- Perform duties in other areas of kitchen as assigned
