Job Description

Job Requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in the US
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must pass a drug screening
  • Subject to intensive background check
  • Must meet Prison Rape Elimination Act requirements
  • Ability to provide evidence of supervisory potential
  • Experience in quantity cooking defined for institutional meal preparation
  • Availability for in-person interviews or testing if required

Job Qualifications

  • Three years of progressively responsible quantity cooking experience
  • At least one year of experience comparable to Cook II in State service
  • Demonstrated supervisory aptitude
  • Knowledge of various cooking techniques including roasting, baking, broiling, and frying
  • Ability to manage kitchen staff and operations
  • Experience in large scale meal preparation
  • Completion of relevant supervisory training preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervises and participates in cooking activities
  • Responsible for all cooking operations during an assigned shift
  • Supervises one or more Cook II positions
  • Manages multiple cooking stations serving large numbers of meals
  • Independently prepares various food types using different cooking methods
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety standards
  • Performs related duties as assigned
