Job Requirements
- Must possess valid Texas driver license or obtain within 90 days
- able to pass fingerprint criminal background check
- pre-employment drug screen
- registry checks including Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System, Nurse Aid, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct, and List of Excluded Individuals/Entities
- must be at least 18 years of age or 21 for Waco Center for Youth
- flexible to work extended hours or overtime
- compliance with immunization policy
- able to work in hot and cold conditions
- physical ability to lift 25 pounds and stand, walk, or bend for long periods
- ability to follow instructions and maintain accurate records
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- twenty-four months work experience in food service operation
- knowledge of food preparation methods, food storage standards, and sanitation regulations
- skill in cooking and use of food preparation equipment
- ability to follow recipes and prepare specialized diets and textures
- ability to operate and sanitize food service equipment
- ability to complete basic math used in cooking
- ability to lift at least 25 pounds and stand for extended periods
- skill in supervising and training others
- ability to speak and read English
- certification in food safety preferred or ability to obtain within six months
Job Duties
- Attends work on a regular basis and may be asked to work specific or rotating shifts including overtime
- prepares, seasons, cooks, and assembles food for regular and modified diets using proper equipment ensuring sanitary conditions
- operates and maintains food service equipment safely and provides guidance and training to others on equipment usage and safety
- calculates proper food quantities using standardized menus and recipes to ensure adequate supply and reduce call backs
- prepares and distributes food safely following food service policies including driving delivery vehicles as needed
- maintains sanitation and inspects areas for cleanliness including cleaning equipment and proper food storage
- guides, trains, and oversees others in food preparation, meal assembly, equipment use, and sanitation procedures
- completes required records and reports including equipment work orders and documents subordinate performance
- participates in disaster response or COOP activation as assigned
