Job Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with eligible driving record
- Completion of Texas Food Handler training
- Obtain Texas Food Manager or Food Protection Manager certification within six months of hire
- One year of food preparation experience including hot and cold food preparation
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Pass fingerprint criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Eligible males must be registered with Selective Service
- Ability to bend, reach, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Ability to work in hot and/or cold conditions
- Ability to complete registry checks and comply with agency drug testing policies
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from standard high school or equivalent preferred
- One year of food preparation experience including hot and cold food preparation
- Experience in healthcare food service preferred
- Experience supervising or training food service staff preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation methods and sanitation regulations
- Knowledge of specialized diets and textures
- Skill in cooking, baking, and use of food preparation appliances
- Ability to interpret and follow recipes
- Ability to maintain accurate records and complete basic math calculations
- Ability to lift minimum of 25 pounds
- Ability to work in hot and cold conditions
- Ability to work harmoniously with coworkers and residents
- Ability to provide training and oversight to staff
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict time deadlines

Job Duties
- Perform advanced technical food production tasks and provide shift leadership during meal preparation and service
- Oversee preparing, cooking, portioning, distributing, and serving food for regular and modified diets
- Ensure food handling adheres to federal and state guidelines
- Review menus to determine food types and quantities, taking specialized diets into account
- Serve as shift leader to guide and instruct staff in meal preparation and delivery
- Inspect food service areas and equipment for sanitation and safety compliance
- Monitor food inventories and consumption records
- Report equipment needs or supply shortages using designated protocols
- Provide training and guidance to subordinates on food preparation, sanitation, safety, and hygiene
- Operate and maintain food service equipment safely
- Participate in food shipment inspections
- Complete necessary reports and documentation
- Recommend improvements to kitchen operations
- Drive delivery vehicle and assist in food distribution as needed
- Work variable shifts including overtime, weekends, and holidays
- Participate in disaster response or continuity of operations as required
