Job Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid Texas driver license or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Pass fingerprint criminal background check
- Pass pre-employment drug screen
- Pass Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System and other registry checks
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Compliance with immunization policy
- Must be able to work flexible hours including overtime
- Ability to speak and read English
- Complete fingerprint criminal background check
- Eligible driving record per HHSC policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Twenty-four months of work experience in food service operation
- Knowledge of food preparation methods and sanitation standards
- Skill in cooking and baking and use of food preparation equipment
- Ability to prepare special diets and modified textures
- Valid Texas driver license or ability to obtain one within 90 days
- Certification in Food Safety preferred or ability to obtain within six months
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to complete basic math calculations
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Effective training and supervisory skills
Job Duties
- Prepare, season, cook, and assemble food for regular and modified diets
- Portion food for special diets and textures
- Maintain supplies of snack items and prepare scheduled snacks and supplements
- Operate and maintain food service equipment safely
- Provide guidance, training, and oversight to kitchen staff
- Calculate and prepare appropriate food amounts to meet menu requirements
- Distribute and serve food in accordance with safety and sanitary policies
- Maintain sanitation standards and clean kitchen and food preparation areas
- Complete required records and reports related to food service operations
- Participate in disaster response and continuity of operations activities as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
