Job Requirements
- One year of food preparation work required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience cooking in healthcare food service preferred
- Experience supervising or training others preferred
- Valid driver’s license with eligible driving record
- Texas Food Manager certification required within six months of hire
- Food handler training required
- Ability to pass criminal background check, drug screen, and registry checks
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Must be at least 18 years old
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent preferred
- One year of food preparation experience including hot and cold food preparation
- Experience in health care food service preferred
- Experience guiding, training, or overseeing the work of others preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and specialized diets
- Ability to use and maintain food service equipment safely
Job Duties
- Oversee preparation, seasoning, cooking, assembly, and service of meals for residents with regular and modified diets
- Provide shift leadership, training, and direction to subordinate cooks
- Ensure compliance with federal and state food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Review menus and adjust recipes to meet dietary requirements
- Monitor food inventory and consumption records
- Inspect kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs
- Maintain accurate records and complete required reports
