Job Requirements

  • One year of food preparation work required
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience cooking in healthcare food service preferred
  • Experience supervising or training others preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with eligible driving record
  • Texas Food Manager certification required within six months of hire
  • Food handler training required
  • Ability to pass criminal background check, drug screen, and registry checks
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent preferred
  • One year of food preparation experience including hot and cold food preparation
  • Experience in health care food service preferred
  • Experience guiding, training, or overseeing the work of others preferred
  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and specialized diets
  • Ability to use and maintain food service equipment safely

Job Duties

  • Oversee preparation, seasoning, cooking, assembly, and service of meals for residents with regular and modified diets
  • Provide shift leadership, training, and direction to subordinate cooks
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Review menus and adjust recipes to meet dietary requirements
  • Monitor food inventory and consumption records
  • Inspect kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs
  • Maintain accurate records and complete required reports
