Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • one year cooking experience in a commercial kitchen highly preferred
  • one year experience teaching other kitchen staff cooking techniques highly preferred
  • must have Food Handlers Card and maintain current certification during employment
  • must have the ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment while meeting regulatory compliance
  • must posses the ability to effectively communicate and provide support in a clear, concise and respectful manner
  • thorough documentation skills including grammatical, spelling and organization
  • the ability to read, write and communicate to residents, staff, families, vendors, and all business relationships in English language
  • ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test
  • must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and changing business conditions

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare food products for the residents and customers
  • provide hands on training and guidance for other kitchen staff for developmental and coaching opportunities
  • assure plate presentation is consistent and high quality with all dishes
  • consistently demonstrate a high level of experience in all facets of cooking including grilling, sautéing, baking, food preparation, creativity, and advanced cooking knowledge
  • follow proper procedures for receiving food and food storage
  • perform sanitation duties in kitchen work area
  • complete assigned record keeping duties
  • follow state and all regulatory compliance requirements to assure department is operating within guidelines
  • support positive communication and relationships with other departments
  • provide direct support to the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager
  • provide creativity with feedback for new dish suggestions and presentations to enhance the dietary experience for residents
