Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of basic line cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to produce basic soups and sauces
  • Ability to work three or more production stations
  • Ability to follow health and sanitation policies such as HACCP
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain Food Handler certificate
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license where applicable
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliable, predictable, and punctual attendance
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Ability to read and communicate in English

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Some culinary education preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of basic line cooking experience in high-quality restaurant, country club, hotel, or senior living company preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of preparing dressings, vinaigrettes, cold sauces, and soups
  • Proficiency in buffet display preparations such as cheese, fruit, and crudité
  • Advanced knife skills including brunoise, dice, julienne, and rough chop
  • Proficient in cooking three or more stations including sauté, sweat, poaching, and frying
  • Proficient in production of soups and sauces including Mother Sauces and derivatives
  • Proficient in meat butchery and seafood fabrication
  • Ability to use point of sale system
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English
  • Sensitive to needs of older adults and enjoy working with senior population
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment

Job Duties

  • Assist in preparing all types of food while maintaining quality and standards
  • Ensure safe handling of all food and ingredients
  • Clean and cut fruits and vegetables
  • Prepare common pooled prep or bulk production items
  • Prepare salads, fruit plates, and condiments
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary work area in compliance with health and sanitation policies such as HACCP
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing storage areas
  • Support kitchen attendant duties such as dishwashing and cleaning
  • Assist pastry chef with basic tasks like scooping bulk cookies and pre-plating desserts
  • Store food items properly to avoid spoilage
  • Follow instructions on daily production sheets and prepare production lists
