- High school diploma or GED
- Food handler's card
- Successful passage of State Competency Test for cooks or equivalent
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment
- Ability to properly clean kitchen area
- Ability to assist in preparing large quantities of food
- Ability to develop effective working relationships

Job Duties
- Assist in the preparation and serving of food in a quick and pleasant manner
- Assume responsibility for replenishing food supplies during meal service periods
- Assist in daily clean-up of kitchen and service areas
- Perform major cleaning of refrigerators and storerooms at scheduled intervals
- Assume responsibility for proper storage and disposal of unused foods
- Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness including sanitary trash and garbage collection
- Participate in in-service training as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned by Principal, Nutritionist or Cook III
