Job Requirements

  • Minimum of three years experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, retirement community or similar institution
  • Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
  • Some knowledge of nutrition and diet
  • Culinary education preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve food items based on standardized recipes including sauces, sautés, boils, braises and roasts, fries, steaks, grilled and baked dishes, and short order cook
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, fish, vegetables and other food items ensuring 100% quality control
  • Assist in food prep assignments including daily prep, special functions, banquets, catering, holiday and special events
  • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations for smooth service
  • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours and determine food and supply requirements for daily menus
  • Follow all safety procedures for handling kitchen equipment and comply with sanitation and personal hygiene standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by chefs or supervisors
