Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • minimum 2 years of cooking experience
  • ability to read and follow written and oral instructions
  • knowledge of food preparation and sanitation standards
  • physical ability to perform moderately heavy labor
  • ability to maintain safety and sanitation standards
  • possess basic math and cooking skills
  • experience with standard knife cuts and methods
  • ability to work variable shifts including rotating weekends
  • compliance with employee health screening and vaccinations

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years cooking experience
  • ability to read and follow instructions
  • knowledge of cleaning methods and food service equipment
  • physical ability to perform moderately heavy labor
  • knowledge of safety and sanitation standards
  • basic math skills for recipe scaling
  • basic cooking skills including safe knife handling
  • knowledge of standard knife cuts and preparation methods
  • ability to prepare food using grilling, frying, baking, steaming, sauteing and braising
  • ability to produce the five mother sauces

Job Duties

  • Cook food for areas including cold food production, baking, grill, prep, entree, veg, line, catering
  • adhere to recipes utilizing basic math skill to adjust quantities as needed
  • transport items from storeroom to kitchen, kitchen to retail, and cooking equipment to service equipment
  • clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas including dishwasher operation
  • assist in recipe testing and development
  • utilize FIFO food rotation, labeling and dating to ensure food quality
  • evaluate quality of food using taste, smell and appearance
  • uphold professional working relationships and adhere to department rules
  • work collaboratively with others and communicate effectively
  • meet patient and employee safety requirements
  • take ownership for goals and outcomes and efficiently complete tasks
  • identify opportunities and take action to improve processes
  • comply with employee health programs including testing and vaccinations
