Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum two years cooking experience
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and moderately heavy labor
  • Knowledge and adherence to safety and sanitation standards
  • Basic math and cooking skills
  • Compliance with health programs including vaccinations and screenings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two or more years of cooking experience
  • Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions
  • General knowledge of cleaning methods, food service equipment, and food preparation and service
  • Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor
  • Ability to maintain and adhere to safety and sanitation standards including personal cleanliness and food handling
  • Basic math skills to adjust recipe sizes
  • Basic cooking skills including safe knife handling
  • Knowledge of standard knife cuts and preparation methods
  • Ability to demonstrate cooking methods such as grilling, frying, baking, steaming, sautéing, and braising
  • Ability to produce the five mother sauces

Job Duties

  • Cook food for various areas including cold food production, baking, grill, prep, entree, vegetable, line, and catering
  • Adhere to recipes using basic math skills to adjust quantities and ensure recipe compliance
  • Transport items between storeroom, kitchen, retail, cooking equipment, and service equipment
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas including dish room
  • Assist in recipe testing and development
  • Utilize FIFO food rotation with proper labeling and dating to ensure food quality
  • Evaluate food quality using taste, smell, and appearance and report issues to supervisor
  • Maintain professionalism and adhere to department rules and standards of behavior
  • Collaborate respectfully with team members to achieve shared goals
  • Promote patient and employee safety while maintaining quality standards
  • Take ownership of goals and efficiently use resources to complete tasks
  • Identify and act on opportunities to improve processes
  • Comply with all required employee health programs including screenings and vaccinations
