Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- two years commercial cooking experience in a high-volume food service environment
- ability to obtain Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of employment
- availability to work 6am to 2:30pm shifts with rotating weekends and holidays
- physical ability to safely operate kitchen equipment
- ability to work onsite at Texas Medical Center
- compliance with all regulatory and safety standards
- effective communication skills
- non-exempt status eligible for overtime pay
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- two years commercial cooking experience in a high-volume food service environment
- ability to obtain Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of employment
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- ability to train and supervise junior food service staff
- proficiency in following standardized recipes and portion control
- excellent communication skills
- familiarity with equipment cleaning and maintenance procedures
Job Duties
- Produce quality food and beverages for patients, guests, and visitors
- maintain quality and freshness of all food served in Patient Room Service and Dining Services
- follow standard practices, departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- train Food Service Workers, Senior Food Service Workers, and Cook I employees
- accurately review computer-generated information and report errors
- clean and sanitize equipment and work area daily
- safely operate kitchen equipment
- prepare assigned food items from standardized recipes with 100 percent accuracy
- issue food items to designated areas
- manage distribution of leftover food and record all product transactions
- perform daily checks of stored food items using FIFO method
- prepare assigned food items in bulk
- report problems with spoiled or poor quality food items
- adapt to move to new locations and shifts as operations dictate
